To sew a book cover is really quickly done, I just needed some to figure out how to sew the pieces together so I got both flaps with hidden seams.
Next time I think I’ll add a bookmark to the cover, which should be very handy, too, I think.
For a wedding this weekend I made this cake …
It is a chocolate cake with sour cream with a cream cheese – curd – tangerine – filling.

The filling is just sort of my standard cream-cheese-filling which I also use in variations for the “Apfelmus-Tiramus” and the “Feuerwehrkuchen”. It’s basically some heavy whipped cream, curd, cream cheese, yoghurt or sour cream, vanilla sugar and gelatine.
One of the projects I always wanted to do and never actually did, was to sew me a new wallet.
The last couple of days I finally did and surprisingly it wasn’t that bad after all. The major challenge for me was to pick out the ‘perfect’ fabric … 
I followed a tutorial I found years ago on the web, unfortunately I wasn’t able to relocate it. Anyway I made already some changes during the sewing process to it, mostly adjusting the way I sew stuff together.
The back is by the way from a coffee bag … Once it said “Cafedo Brasil” …
While sewing the “shiny mermaid dress” I noticed that it would be very handy to have some sort of pincushion as a ring or bracelet.
Somewhere on the web I saw this idea and made some myself today. It’s pretty easy. You need only
In the bottom of the plastic caps you drill two holes, put your elastic through and fix it with a knot.
Cut out a big enough circle of fabric, make some stitches along the edge so you can pull the fabric together, stuff it and fix it with hot glue into the cap.
I’m not totally happy yet how they turned out. So I guess I will look for some ribbon to “pimp” them a little …
… That’s what they look like after I put some tiny fabric scraps around them.
One of them I immediately gave to my friend together with the needles she borrowed me …
The tag is made of some fabric scraps I stained in coffee to get a more off-white colour. The word “Danke” was my first try in free-hand machine stitching …

Häkelblumen gehören irgendwie zu den Dingen, für die es mindestens tausend und eine Möglichkeiten zur Verwendung gibt. Als Applikation auf Taschen, als Anstecker zum Aufpeppen eines Shirts, Pullis, Jacke, etc., als Schlüsselanhänger, zum auf Karten aufkleben, zum sammeln in Boxen, …. und und und.
Um auch in den Genuss dieser Verwendungsfreiheit zu kommen, habe ich mich in den letzten Tagen ein bisschen durchs Web gewühlt auf der Suche nach einer schönen Anleitung (und dabei einen großen Bogen um alle englischsprachigen Seiten gemacht – für heute ist es erstmal genug die dt Abkürzungen zu verstehen).

Ausprobiert habe ich dabei die ein oder andere Anleitung, letztendlich hat sich daraus ein eigenes Muster entwickelt. (Wobei ‘eigen’ wahrscheinlich relativ ist, irgendwer kam bestimmt schon mal auf die gleiche Idee …)

Ergibt dann schlussendlich eine 6-blättrige Blüte.
Wie schon geschrieben sind den Verwendungsmöglichkeiten keine Grenzen gesetzt. Ich habe daraus ein paar Anstecker gemacht. Die Blume wurde dabei noch mit einem dünnen Draht, wie er für Perlenketten, Tiere, etc. verwendet wird, verstärkt um etwas plastischer zu wirken und ihre Form zu wahren.
Somewhere on the web I read about this “Stoffgroßhandel Hüco-Stoffe” which seemed to be phantastic. So when I visited a good friend this week in Berlin we decided to set out and have a look ourselves.
It was fantastic, they have tons of different real cool fabrics, aisle after aisle, bale over bale – uncountable meters of every kind of fabric you can imagine.
The big plus, it wasn’t expensive at all. We made some good deals, since they also have a so called “Reste-Lager” where you get the last pieces of a bale to a very good deal, as well as yarn, ribbons, buttons, ….
Of course I couldn’t resist and bought some nice fabric. I especially love my ribbons and the yarn. I only bought it because I love the colour of it and since it wasn’t expensive I decided I could just do that
Inspired from many great ideas on the web I am trying to make my own pocket tissue holders. My first attempt following a really easy tutorial turned out pretty well (I was actually done in 15 min) yet the measurement doesn’t fit my german pocket tissue boxes yet.
In my search for different measurements I found some other great blogs and ideas how to vary them and I try some of them soon. However, I come now to the point where I cannot live (well, better say, sew) without an iron anymore … So first of all I need to figure out a way of getting to a cheap iron and everything else …Tat
